March 19, 2011

March 18, 2011

Faithfully, every year around St. Joseph's Day (March 19th), the swallows return from their winter migration in Argentina back to San Juan Capistrano and the Mission.  And, faithfully, the Mission padres and citizens of San Juan Capistrano await and welcome the swallows' arrival with a great celebration.

On March 19th, the Mission will host it's St. Joseph's Day and Return of the Swallows Celebration, which will include:

Ringing of the historic bells
Live music
Community presentations
Special Guest Lecture On Cliff Swallows
Mission Parish School performances
History of St. Joseph's Day and Swallows Legend

The event will run from 10am to 2pm. The event is free with paid admission to the Mission (Adults $9; Children 4-11 years $5).
